Know-how for pleasure
Choosing a lubricant
Lubricant sounds simple until you stand in front of the shelf. Here is the difference between the types and the one rule you must not forget.
Water-based
The standard choice. It works with every material, silicone toys included, and rinses off easily. It dries faster, so you sometimes need to reapply.
Silicone-based
It lasts longer and still works in water. The rule to remember: silicone lubricant can damage silicone toys. So do not use it with a silicone toy unless the maker explicitly allows it.
Hybrid
A mix of water and silicone. It glides longer than pure water-based, but it contains silicone. Take the same care with silicone toys and read the label.
Flavoured and warming
Handy for oral or for trying something new. Warming or flavoured products can sting on sensitive skin. Test a small patch first.
Count per millilitre
On 18 October 2026 a 150 ml water-based bottle costs about 5 cents per ml at bol, while a 50 ml warming bottle comes to about 30 cents per ml. So look at the volume, not just the price on the label.

Original siliconenbasis 100 ml
Pjur Original is a silicone lube the maker calls the best-selling one in the world. From seller Swingshop it currently costs 14.65 euros for 100 ml, against a list price of 22.99 euros. Reviews are good (4.5 from 18), though a few buyers say bol is pricier than other shops. Silicone makes floors slippery. Skip it with silicone toys.

Classic Hybride 240 ml
System JO Classic is a hybrid lube combining water and silicone. On the Belgian bol page, KoopjesDrogisterij.nl BE asks 42.00 euros for 240 ml, over 17 cents per ml. That is a lot more than Pjur's silicone. The only review is one star (unpleasant with long-term use), so it tells you little.
