02Why cool?
JO H2O Cool is water based with French menthol. That gives a cool, tingly feel on the skin. Think peppermint rather than heat. The ingredient behind it is on the list: Mentha Piperita leaf extract.
The brand says the formula is soft like silicone without being sticky. It contains no silicone, wax or oil, which is why it suits latex condoms and all kinds of toys.
The list also names glycerin and propylene glycol. That is simply info for anyone who is sensitive to them. The feeling is intense, so start with a little and see what you think.
03Which lube suits what?
Four kinds you will meet in this list. The base of the product decides which toys it goes with.
| Type | What it is | Goes with | Watch out | Cleaning up |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Water basedthis one | Light and wet, the default choice | Latex condoms and every toy, silicone included | Dries faster, so add a little more | Rinses off with water |
| Silicone and hybrid | Silicone stays slick for long, hybrid mixes water and silicone | Latex condoms. Silicone toys only with a hybrid that says so | Pure silicone based lube can damage silicone toys | Warm water and soap, silicone based takes a little more effort |
| Flavoured or scented | For the playful side, with a scent or taste | Check the pack for condoms and toys | Read whether it is meant for anal use too | Rinse with water |
| Cleaner | A spray for your toy after use, not a lube | Silicone, rubber and latex toys (according to LELO) | Keep it away from your eyes and do not swallow it | Spray, leave briefly and wipe off |
A general guide. Always read the pack of your own product.
This is for you if
- You want a cool feeling as a bonus.
- You use silicone toys or latex condoms.
- You want a water based lube that does not feel sticky.
Skip it if
- Your skin is very sensitive to menthol or peppermint.
- You want a neutral product with no stimulation.
- You are after something for anal use. The text does not mention it, so pick a product meant for that.
04How to use it
Test a small spot
Menthol feels different on everyone. Try a drop on your arm or wrist first.
Start with little
A small amount is enough to feel the cooling effect.
Apply it
On the spot you want to treat. The tingle is quickly noticeable.
Rinse with water
Washing with water is enough. Clean your toy afterwards as usual.
05Good to know
- Menthol can irritate sensitive mucous membranes. Stop if it gets too much.
- Want to avoid your eyes and mouth? Keep it away, you feel menthol more strongly there.
- It dries out like any water based lube. Top up.
